Thuy's first lead! I had noticed this in the guidebook, and when we got to the
top of Mr. Bunny versus Six Unknown Agents and I saw
it up close, I immediately thought it would be a good one for her to try
leading. It looked pretty easy and juggy, and short, with two solid bolts for
pro. I suggested it, and we decided to do Mr. Bunny's Tax
Shelter first, since that ends at the top of this one, and we could check
out the anchor situation. I was somewhat surprised to find two bolts at the top
(though no chains), so I showed Thuy how to set an anchor with an
“equalette” (my preferred rigging method these days, especially for
a two-bolt anchor), and how to tie in to it with a figure eight on a bight. She
decided she felt more comfortable leaving my anchor sling and biners in place,
so she could just tie in to the pre-built anchor when she got there. She led
the route with no problems at all, tied in correctly, and belayed me up. A nice
first lead.
