We've been wanting to climb this ever since our first trip to Red Rocks
together, over two years ago. Every time we were going to do it, something came
up. Finally, we got to climb it this time, and it was very nice. We utilized a
few good strategies like each bringing a belay seat, wearing stiff-soled shoes,
removing our shoes at each belay, and we also soon realized that during the
actual climbing, it was helpful to really milk any foothold large enough to
plant your heel on. Our big mistake was probably that we carried a backpack for
our second rope. Doubles would definitely be the way to go here. But still,
with all our provisions for mitigating the sore feet and making the belays more
comfortable, the climb was quite enjoyable. We also got started quite early and
climbed it quickly, getting back to the ground by about 2:00.
