Deserves a star... or four or five. Really awesome for a sport climb. I
originally tried leading this, and got most of the way through the lower crux
before falling the first time. It was really devious. I tried several more
times, before giving up and handing the lead over to Aaron. He dispatched it
with only one fall, and finished the route with no more, almost an onsight.
Once I got back on, I had no trouble with the lower crux. The roof is quite
pumpy, and I had to hang once there. All in all this was an excellent climb.
After this climb, we went back to the car and ate lunch, because I was
starving. While we were hanging out in the HVCG parking lot, Mike Reardon
pulled up and got out. I had met him last summer at
Tahquitz while
climbing with
Laura Schrupp. I walked up and
re-introduced myself, and we talked for a while. He was there with his whole
crew, free soloing tons of hard stuff, as usual. Aaron and I both agreed that
he was really friendly and just generally cool, not at all a spray lord or
anything.
