Aaron led the first and last pitches of this, since I had already led them.
They felt easier this time, maybe because I had done them before, or maybe
because I was just following. I warned Aaron about the sketchy slab and the
rope drag at the end of the third pitch, and he followed my advice and didn't
place any pro on the traversing parts. But when he got to the crappy flake at
the end, the last chance for gear, he placed three pieces, and
equalized them! When I saw it, I burst out laughing, and he could hear me all
the way from the summit. It was funny, but I have to admit, that finish is
quite sporty. There's only two steps of difficult friction (about 5.8
probably), but you really don't want to blow one of those moves.
