This was really fun, and gave me a little more (much needed) practice on
J-Tree friction slabs. Actually, few moves were true friction moves, as there
were lots of edges (hence the 5.7 rating, I suspect.) I led both pitches,
which was also a good experience for me, as this involved some runout. The
ledge at the end of pitch two is now officially my favorite spot in all of
Joshua Tree. Next time, I need to take a camera up there. For that matter,
next time the campsites are all full, I might just take my sleeping bag up
there and bivy.
