Since REI never seems to have these, I finally bought one at Nomad Ventures in
Joshua Tree. This will be the new biner that I'll use on my haul bag.

This got cross-loaded in a serious-bad way on one of the early pitches of The
Nose, damaging the sheath to the extent that the biner won't even close
without some fidgeting. It does still lock automatically once it's closed, but
I'm certainly not happy with its current condition. We're just damn lucky we
didn't lose the haul bag!

Not actually repaired, but replaced... I took this in and exchanged it for a
brand new one.
