I found this right at the top of the Mechanic's Route (where it joins up with
Open Book) at Tahquitz.

I found this, along with two nuts and a locker, while rappelling off of
Geronimo at Red Rocks. It seemed pretty clear that someone had to set a
somewhat minimalist gear anchor in the middle of the second to last rappel.
(Perhaps they had not brought a second rope for the descent.) Both nuts came
out easily, so I kept the whole lot.

This sling appears to be in good condition, but any sling left in the sun for a
while is suspect. Plus, I've never used a “one and a half length” (36") sling,
and I'm not sure what I'd use it for, other than maybe for a sliding X on a
bolt anchor, or to extend a piece a little extra long. I usually just use
double-length (48") slings for those purposes.
