Items:
- 5.10 Ascents, size 8
- Purchased: Friday, September 19, 2003
These were cosmetic seconds from the 5.10 Friday store in Redlands, so I got a
GREAT deal on them. I was so glad they had the ascents (the model I most
wanted) in my size. This was my second pair of climbing shoes, this time a
pair better suited to long trad routes.

I had these resoled by YosemiteBum, via Adventure 16. Excellent price, and so
far, the quality seems excellent as well. However, I can tell that the rubber
is not as sticky as the 5.10 Stealth rubber.

As much as I have loved these shoes, and as many vertical miles as I've put on
them, I think it's time to retire them. I think I'll keep them for a while
just for the sake of nostalgia, but now that I've got a second pair of
Ascents, I won't need to climb in these any more. It wasn't until I bought the
new pair that I realized just how beat to hell these things are. I've pretty
much worn them into the ground. :-)

My second pair of ascents, also purchased from the 5.10 Friday store in
Redlands. Again, I got a great deal on them, but unfortunately, even though
they are the same exact model and size as my previous pair, they feel much
tighter and less comfortable. They are getting broken in now, however.

My THIRD pair of ascents, also purchased from the 5.10 Friday store in
Redlands. Can you tell I like these shoes? And this pair is the “old style”,
before they changed the design just slightly. So I actually like these more
than the second pair I bought. Of course, I once again got them for pretty
cheap.
