Scoping out the route

When we got back to the car, Aaron got ahold of his parents on his cell phone. They were just getting into the park, se he gave them directions to meet us where we were parked, at the edge of El Cap Meadows. As soon as they showed up, we grabbed cameras and the spotting scope and tripod that they had brought, and headed out into the meadows to introduce them to our route. We also wanted to take another look at the route ourselves, and to try out the scope. We tried to point out various landmarks to his parents, to show them where the route went and where we hoped to be at the end of each day. We each took turns peering through the telescope, and Aaron and I were amazed at the level of detail we could see. At one point, we zoomed in as close as we could to a climber sitting on top of Dolt Tower (about 1000 feet up) and we could count the toes on his bare feet. Awesome! Aaron's dad was going to get some great photos!
